ABOUT RHYS

Rhys did his first paid gig at only 9 years old. Growing up in the Bega Valley, he performed at every local event and festival in the area before travelling interstate on his school holidays to hone his skills.

Through years of travelling and performing in so many different environments, he has filled his shows with an eclectic mix of, well, anything skillful, weird and wacky enough for people to stop and watch. Rhys has quite a range of acts, skills and bits.

After a car accident resulting in a shattered leg, a fear of Toyota Hiaces and a long period of time unable to juggle, tumble or even walk, Rhys turned to comedy. From there, the interest only grew and it soon became the focus of his career.

Rhys turned to producing shows and Cabaret of the Cow was born; a comedy circus cabaret in the Bega Valley. Featuring big name comedy acts and world class circus, the show was a success two years in a row. Rhys also produced venues at local festivals, ran open mics and organised street performers. His efforts to bring the wider circus and comedy world into the local area even won him a  Bega Valley Young Citizen of the Year award.

In 2015, Rhys left home and school after an offer from Circus Aotearoa in New Zealand. He toured for seven
months and performed one hundred and thirty shows across twenty seven towns scattered over both islands.

He relocated to Melbourne to work on the streets. Performing, obviously. Now, almost ten years after receiving a book on magic, Rhys' hard work and dedication has paid off. Having returned from his successful debut season at Edinburgh Fringe Festival he continues to build momentum in his career with a future bigger than his hair.
